The fight for early voting in Ohio.

Voting should be fair and accessible. Being able to cast your vote early, instead of waiting in long lines, is a good thing—no matter who you’re voting for. But apparently Republican lawmakers in Ohio disagree.

In fact, they’ve tried repeatedly to restrict the state’s early voting window.

Why? Sadly, it could be election year politics. Early voting reforms in Ohio helped fix Election Day lines—with waits of up to seven hours—that plagued heavily Democratic precincts in the 2004 election. The reforms have been hugely popular. Now, for this election, the Republicans are trying to trim them back.

We’re taking action.

Dorothy Cooper was born in 1915, before women could exercise the right to vote in the United States. In 70 years, she’s missed just one election. She doesn’t intend to miss another. She knows what she needs to have her vote in Tennessee count, and with the help of a local volunteer she’s determined to get it.

Let’s Get Started.

Voting should be easy for every eligible voter. Simply put, that’s why today we’re launching GottaVote.org.

When you have the information you need, no matter where you live, you can take the steps to make sure your vote is counted and your voice is heard come election day.

We’d love to hear about what you’ve done to make sure your vote has an impact on this election. Submit a story and tell us how you’ve prepared yourself for election day, or let us know what you’re doing in your community to get your neighbors ready for November 6th.

Here you’ll be able to ask us questions about voting, share pictures and stories of your volunteer work, and stay on top of the countdown to election day.

We’re looking forward to election day, and to working with you to make sure that everyone eligible who wants to participate, can.
